Entry from: Helsinki, Finland Entry Title: “Helsinki” Entry: “It was mid afternoon when I got to Helsinki. I had booked in to the Stadium Hostel. The advice on the Internet was to look for the stadium tower and keep walking towards it. Luckily the train went passed the stadium on the way in so I knew which direction to head for when I got off the train. About half way to the Hostel I suddenly saw thousands of Finnish women heading towards me. Who told them I was here? As I got closer to them I could see it was some kind of womens marathon. They were all in good spirits waving to the few pedestrians that stopped to watch. Obviously the men folk were all at home watching football and drinking beers. I continued on following the tower only to discover that the marathon had actually started from the stadium car park. I was could go no further until the last runner had passed me. There was nothing for it but to park my backpack and watch. Sadly it was all over in twenty minutes. I ploughed on up to the stadium. As I got closer, signs for the hostel started appearing. I soon found the hostel around the back of the stadium under the stands. I had thought when booking hostel that it was a building close by the stadium but it was actually part of the stadium.
